ZPF is a 2D horizontal shoot’em up actually in development for Megadrive by Mega Cat Studios, author of Tanzer, a 2D platform game released in 2019 for Megadrive/Genesis.
The game tries to reply the good old fashioned horizontal shooters from 80s and 90s and includes 6 different stages with future, fantasy and alien worlds, 3 playable characters with unique shot and melee attacks, many mid and end-stage bosses, a shop, hidden stages and multiple endings.
The company opened a Kickstarter campaign with the aim of reach $15,000 by the end of July but the goal was reached after only 19 minutes (actually the total pledges have almost reached the $125,000 mark).
ZPG is planned to released in physical edition, cartridge only or full box complete with manual, and different other bonuses based on different rewards.
ZPF release date is planned for February 2025 but there could be some delays due to the nature of the project. It’s not clear if the game will be published outside the Kickstarter campaign but considering the huge amount of money Mad Cat Studios already got it’s not impossibile, considering they are already announcing new features on their page, like a possible Japanese cover.
