Yesterday City Connection have announced the last entry in their “Saturn Tribute” series: Wolf Fang + Skull Fang.
Wolf Fang is a run and gun platform arcade game developed by Data East and released for arcades in 1991. It’s the sequel of Vapor Trail, a shoot’em up released in 1989, and it’s set 2 years after those events. The player controls a mech that can hover against slanted walls in the background and also land on higher platforms.
It was ported to PlayStation in 1996 and Saturn in 1997 with new introduction and title screen and staff roll after the endings.
The sequel, called Skull Fang, is a vertical shoot’em up originally released for arcades in 1996 and ported only to Saturn in 1997 with some new features such as a trial mode, boss rush mode and a speed mode which has two settings rather than five.
This compilation will include the classic features from the “Saturn Tribute” series such as Save, Load and Rewind functions and a new arranged soundtrack.
The release is planned for Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series and PC in digital form but in Japan a physical release for Switch and PlayStation 5 will also come on 31 October 2024.
