Tomba! Special Edition is an enhanced version of the original game published on PlayStation in 1997.
The game is a side scrolling action game where the player controls Tomba during his journey to recover his grandfather’s bracelet from a tribe of pigs.
The game was directed by Tokuro Fujiwara, a former Capcom employer and director of classics like Commando, Bionic Commando, Sweet Home and Ghosts’n Goblins series and was acclaimed for the gameplay, a non-linear event system that was uncommon at the time of its release.
Last year Limited Run Games published in North America and Europe an enhanced version of the game for Switch and PlayStation 5 but the limited quantity made the game hard to find.
Today Superdeluxe Games have announced the release of the game in Japan through a tweet on X, but the official announcement will be made in May, so it is not clear if this release will have a Deluxe edition like other titles in their line-up.
For now we just have a picture of the cover of both versions, Switch and PlayStation 5 and a generic “summer 2025” as release, but considering they have Shubibinman Complete Edition on 12 June, Castlevania Anniversary Collection on 26 June and Castlevania Advance Collection on 31 July, there are high chances that it will be released in August.
