Souldiers is a 2D side scrolling action game developed by Retro Forge and released in 2022 in digital form for Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC.
Set in a fantasy world during a war among 2 factions, the player can select 3 different classes, Scout, Archer and Caster, each one with different abilities and combat styles. The gameplay includes rpg elements (also known as “metroidvania”) and a “Souls-like” combat system.
Besides the above mentioned 3 different classes, there are 4 different difficulty levels: Normal, Hard, Vetaran and Master.
Using the coins collected while exploring the map, the player can upgrade weapons and armours and by progressing through the story it will be possible to change the character’s attributes, such as exploiting the enemy’s weaknesses to deal great damage, lighting torches in dungeons, and generating wind to operate windmills.
Souldiers was not released in Japan until now so Teyon Japan yesterday announced that the game is coming out in both digital and physical form on 26 September. But while the digital version will be available for both Switch and PlayStation 5, the physical version will be released exclusively for Switch.
