Initially announced only for PC, SIGNALIS is planned to be released also for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 at the end of October.
The recent news is that both systems will have a retail version which will be sold exclusively in Japan.
Developed by rose-engine and published by Playism, SIGNALIS is inspired by classics of the genre like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, the gameplay of SIGNALIS is a love-letter to the golden era of survival horror with a striking pixel-art anime aesthetic; to advance in the game, the player has to solve various puzzles by breaking codes, using radio signals or by combining objects. Combat is only a last resort since ammunition is scarce and enemies are not easily defeated, so players must carefully choose when to fight and when to run.
Set in a dystopian, surreal retrotech world, the player controls Elster, a replicant, in the search of her crew after their ship crash-landed on a remote, snow-covered planet.
In her search she wanders through the ruins of a seemingly abandoned underground labour camp, surreal visions of cosmic horror, and flashbacks to a past that isn’t hers.
SIGNALIS will be available from 27 October and will support also English, French, German, Spanish and Russian.
Pre-ordering the retail version, exclusive for Japan, will also include a poster (A4 size), a set of stickers and a badge.
