(PS1) The King of Fighters 98

The 5th entries in the series was released in 1998 and initially ported to Neo Geo systems the same year and only in March 1998 arrived on PlayStation.
All characters in previous games return, including those who last appeared in 1995 release; the gameplay didn’t change too much from the previous year : Advance and Extra styles were not changed but now when a character loses a round the losing team gets a handicap in its favor, Power Gauge stock increases to one in Advanced and the time for charging power gauge to maximum level is shortened in Extra mode.
