(PS1) Final Fantasy VIII

The classic RPG series from Squaresoft returned with the 8th chapter in 1999, released on PlayStation.
It’s the first game in the series to feature realistically proportioned characters and not super deformed as it was used until Final Fantasy VII; the game is split in 3 different section, world map (displayed in 3D where the player can move freely across a small scale rendered world), field map (the player moves the 3D characters into 2D pre-rendered backgrounds) and the battle screen (a 3D location where turn based fights are played).
Final Fantasy VIII was well received by critics and was a commercial success.
