(PS1) Dead or Alive

Released in 1996 by Tecmo, Dead or Alive is influenced by Virtua Fighter series but introduced some unique features.
Based on SEGA’s Model 2 hardware (the same used for Virtua Fighter 2) has two different kind of “Hold” (the “Guard” in Virtua Fighter), depending on direction from pad can be used for force away or counter-damage the opponent.
The PlayStation port was released in 1998, a year after the Saturn version and adds two characters, a different graphics engine, new background music and a revamped fighting engine.
