(N64) Diddy Kong Racing

Racing game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo in 1997.
The game features 8 different characters (and other 2 unlockable) with a gameplay similar to Mario Kart : the player has to race in different worlds with a total of 20 different tracks in order to save Timber’s Island from an intergalactic villain called Wizpig.
There are 3 different vehicles available, cars, hovercrafts and airplanes, each one with some particular features but also some weak points; through the race it’s possibile to grab different balloons which give temporary boosts to the vehicle while collecting bananas increase its speed.
Diddy Kong Racing was critically acclaimed and most of the reviews claimed it was superior to Mario Kart 64.
