(MD) Ghouls’n Ghosts

Originally released for arcades in 1988, Ghouls’n Ghosts was ported to various systems, including Megadrive in 1989.
The story is set 3 years after the events seen in Ghosts’n Goblins, Lucifer and his army have taken out Princess Prin-Prin soul and other villagers ones.
The gameplay didn’t change so much from the previous title, now Arthur can shoot upward and downward while in mid air, new weapons were added and now secret treasure chests can be revealed by jumping in certain spots : these chests can also grant the player with new armors and the gold one can be charged to release a powerful magical attack, which is different for each weapon.
The Megadrive port was a great success and was praised by critics for the great conversion, graphics similar to the original arcade and a great soundtrack.
