(MD) After Burner II

Released in arcades the same year as the first episode, After Burner II is more an updated version than a proper sequel; but while After Burner was released for Master System, Megadrive got After Burner II.
Starring a F-14 Tomcat (at the time very popular due to “Top Gun”), the player has to flight through 18 stages and defeat enemy jets. While in the arcade version the F-14 has a cannon and missiles, the Megadrive porting, as well for Master System, only has missiles, and the other two buttons on pad are used to speed up or slow down the jet speed.
Acclaimed for its fast paced action and technical solutions, like sprite scaling and surface rotation, the Megadrive port was praised for smooth and fast gameplay and for the soundtrack.
