(GB) Super Mario Land

Super Mario Land was the first title in the series on handhelds and was published as launch game for Gameboy in 1989.
The gameplay takes inspiration from Super Mario Bros, the player goes through a series of worlds (4 in total) with 3 levels each; unlike the previous Famicom games if Mario jumps over a Koopa the shell will explode after a small delay and 2 levels are shoot’em up stages where Mario drives a submarine and then an airplane.
It was the first Mario created without the supervision of Shigeru Miyamoto, it’s not set in the Mushroom Kingdom but in Sarasaland and the goal of the game is to save Princess Daisy, at her debut in Nintendo games.
