Gimmick comes retail in Japan

Gimmick

Today the publisher Superdeluxe has announced the new title in their “Super Deluxe Games” series : Gimmick.

Originally released by Sunsoft for Famicom in 1992 (and the following year only in Scandinavia), Gimmick is a classic platform game in the 80’s style starring a green creature who was mistakenly gifted as a toy to a young girl; after it comes to life and whisk the girl away to another dimension, the green creature gives chase to save her.

The original game has been remastered by City Connection with several quality improvements which can also be disabled in order to give the player the true hardcore experience of the original game (Gimmick at the time for its release was praised for the high quality graphics but criticized for the difficulty).
A Save/Load function has been added for players that can’t finish the game in a single session like the good old times, the Speed-run Mode has been added for those who wish to show the world their skills, especially with the Online Leaderboards. For players who like to soak up their surroundings and hunting for secrets, the Achievements will be welcomed.

As usual for the Super Deluxe Games series, this edition will come with a special cardboard box, a manual, a mini magazine, the original soundtrack on CD and a trading card by pre-ordering the game while the Limited Edition includes all the bonuses of the pre-order and a stuffed toy featuring Yumetaro, the green creature protagonist of the game.

Gimmick will be released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on 7 December 2023.
