Famitsu weekly sales from 18 to 24 March 2024

Famitsu has released its videogame sales chart for the week from 18 to 24 March 2024.

This week the podium is completely filled with new titles, the top seller game was Princess Peach: Showtime! (SWI) with 77,652 units sold followed by Dragon’s Dogma 2 (PS5) with 68,592 units sold and closed by Rise of the Ronin (PS5) with 64,646 units sold.

The other new entries are related to the new chapter released for Dragon Quest X, the online multiplayer game by Square-Enix: Dragon Quest X Online: The Door to the Future and the Sleeping Girl sold 17,919 units on Switch and 7,333 on PlayStation 4 while another version including all the packages released, Dragon Quest X Online All-In-One Package Version 1-7 (SWI) sold 4,453 units.

Regarding the titles re-entering the chart, this week 2 long seller titles reappeared for the first time in 2024: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Fire (SWI) with 1,895 units sold and Luigi’s Mansion 3 (SWI) with 1,874 units sold.

Total sales for the top 10 titles is 274,117 units, a good result due to the 3 new releases that reached the podium that turns out to be the second best result in March and the 5th in 2024; Princess Peach has a great start and confirms that Nintendo’s IP are all performing good due to Switch success, while Dragon’s Dogma 2 was expected to perform a little better, but after 12 years and 2 generation of consoles it was very hard to repeat the numbers of the first episode; Rise of the Ronin first week is not bad at all, not far from Dragon’s Dogma 2 despite the development and marketing budget being smaller than the Capcom title.

Hardware side, Switch was influenced by the new Princess Peach game and Switch OLED raised up to 46,851 units, followed by PlayStation 5 with 24,183 units then Switch Lite with 7,826 units and Switch with 6,151 units, all up compared to last week while PlayStation 5 Digital with 3,605 units is decreasing.
In the “3 digits” part of the chart, Xbox Series X sold 958 units while Xbox Series S sold 402 units and the last spot is for PlayStation 4 with 250 units.
