Famitsu has released its videogame sales chart for the week from 2 October to 8 October 2023.
The top spot was hold by the highest new entry of the week, Detective Pikachu Returns (SWI) with 85,639 units sold, followed by another new entry, The Game of Life (SWI) with 30,267 units sold and then another new release, this time for PlayStation 5 : Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which sold 20,407 units.
The last entry in the Ubisoft series sold also 8,029 units on PlayStation 5 while another new entry, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection sold 20,294 units splitted between PS5 (11,740) and PS4 (8,554); the last new entry of the week is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + Booster Course Pass (SWI) which sold 2,604 units.
Sales this week have kept strong compared to the numbers seen in August and September, the top 10 moved 200,450 units compared to 189,681 units of the previous week splitted between September and October and 101,442 units from the third week of September, even if more than half of those sales have been cause by the top 3 games.
The chart is still dominated by Switch but PlayStation 4 and 5 got some titles in the chart and generally seems like the Sony userbase is slowly going from PS4 to PS5 considering the sales of the latest multi-platform releases.
Hardware side, it’s impossible not to mention the awesome result made by Switch OLED, thanks to the new Mario Red model release in the week, the total sales were boosted up to 100,000 units sold. Obviously this situation had the consequences to slow down all the other hardware sales except for PlayStation 4 that suddendly saw its sales growing up from 426 from the previous week to over 1000, overpassing the total of Xbox Series systems that failed to reach the same numbers.
