Famitsu has released its videogame sales chart for the week from 19 to 25 February 2024.
The podium was influenced by the new entries but Mario vs. Donkey Kong (SWI) with 27,113 units sold still holds the top spot while the highest new entry and the runner-up is Shin-chan: Shiro of Coal Town (SWI) with 21,593 units sold and the third place is held by another new entry, Retro Game Challenge 1 + 2 Replay (SWI) with 13,686 units sold.
Besides the above mentioned games, other new entries of the week are: Yohane the Parhelion: NUMAZU in the MIRAGE (SWI) with 4,418 units sold at #12 and Seifuku Kanojo (SWI) with 2,325 units sold at #26.
There are also two games that re-entered the chart, a classic evergreen for late winter / spring times Ring Fit Adventure (SWI) with 2,543 units sold at #25 and the budget release of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 (SWI) with 2,161 units sold at #30.
Combined sales for the top 10 has decreased from last week (but it was Mario vs. Donkey Kong release which accounted almost half of the total sales) with 112,187 units and considering the whole month of February is not the worst result, 2 weeks before (from 5 to 11 February) sales were only 92,723 units. Of course things will drastically change the next week with the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for PlayStation 5.
Hardware side, it has been a different week for Nintendo and Sony systems: while Switch is holding similar number from the previous week, PlayStation 5 showed a regression.
The top seller system was Switch OLED with 38,125 units sold, around 3,000 units more than the previous week, followed by PlayStation 5 with 28,692 units sold, almost 5,000 units less than the previous week. Switch Lite is the 3rd best selling system with 8,102 units followed by PlayStation 5 Digital with 4,812 units and Switch, 4,659 units, the only Switch version selling worst than the previous week.
The chart is closed by Xbox Series X (2,287 units) which keep the momentum of being the only “minor” system with 4 digits sales followed by Xbox Series S with 826 units sold while PlayStation 4 closes the chart with 362 units sold (and probably Famitsu from next April will not track PS4 hardware anymore).
