Famitsu weekly sales 16-22/10/2023
Famitsu has released its videogame sales chart for the week from 16 October to 22 October 2023.
The top seller of the week is, without surprises, Super Mario Bros. Wonder (SWI) with 638,634 units sold, which is followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with 77,348 units sold, another new entry, while the top 3 is closed by The Game of Life (SWI) with 10,554 units sold.
Other new entries of the week are Sonic Superstars (SWI) with 4,128 units sold at #9 and World of Horror (SWI) with 3,100 units sold that almost entered in top 10 (#11); a mention for Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (SWI) at #26 and Super Mario Party (SWI) at #29 that re-entered into the chart after some weeks.
Obviously this week sales of the top 10 are heavily influenced by the main titles for the end of the year for Switch and PlayStation 4 with a total of 764,693 units sold compared to 83,646 of the previous week, but Mario Wonder and Spider-Man 2 cannibalized the sales : almost all titles are down compared to the previous week.
Regarding Hardware sales, no big surprise on the top, Switch OLED sales are still strong while PlayStation 5 is basically sold-out after the announcement of the new models planned for 10 November. But the centre of the chart is lively : Switch Lite passed Switch but especially Xbox Series X got a bump to 2,585 units sold and passed both PlayStation 5 Digital (stock problems) and PlayStation 4.
