A couple of days ago Rainy Frog has officially announced a HD Remaster for El Shaddai, the third person action adventure game originally released in 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and then ported to PC in 2021.
El Shaddai was developed by Ignition Tokyo, a team formed by several former member of Capcom’s Clover Studio, and puts the player in the role of Enoch, an immortal scribe who is sent by God to find seven fallen angels and save humanity from a great flood triggered by the Council of Heaven.
The gameplay is a 2D platform in a 3D gameplay levels which vary in presentation and art style while in combat sections Enoch starts with his bare fists but proceeding through the game he will be able to use weapons stolen from defeated enemies.
The game was highly appraise by critics and received the “Future Game of the Show” award in Tokyo Game Show 2010, but sales were not high so Ignition Tokyo studio was forced to close after a few months.
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron HD Remaster, this is the full title, will be published in Japan by Rainy Frog for Switch; besides the normal version a limited version is also planned and includes a Drama CD and a Drama CD Script.
The remaster features a polished graphics, optimized loading times and 2 bonus available after the player completes the game, including a bonus novel “Lucifer’s Fallen Book of Seta” that tells the story after the events seen in the game.
