Today Beep Japan has announced the retail version of Devil Engine, an horizontal shoot’em up with pixel graphics originally released in digital form in 2019.
Originally developed by DANGEN Entertainment, Devil Engine is a side scrolling shoot’em up heavily influenced by the 32 bit era, featuring a variety of locations and a pulse pounding soundtrack composed by Hyakutarou Tsukumo (Hyper Duel and Thunder Force V).
There are 3 different ships available from the beginning while others can be purchased by points accumulated through the game; every ship uses 3 different shot types and a smart bomb and also there is a multiplying combo systems.
The action takes place through 6 different levels and there will be 8 game modes available.
This retail version includes all the DLCs previously released, including the “Ignition Mode” which introduces 6 new and heavily modified stages, the original soundtrack on a downloadable card and a bonus game, 1993 Shenandoah, originally released in digital form in 2020.
Devil Engine will be released on 12 October 2023 for both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 with Japanese and English languages available in-game.
