Today 3goo publisher announced a retail release for Dead Cells in Japan.
Originally released in digital form, Dead Cells is a side scrolling action game (or metroidvania) with rogue elements and procedurally generated levels. The player controls the Prisoner, an amorphous creature that can possess human corpses; when the Prisoner dies the player loses all weapons and upgraded obtained excluding few permanent items.
Dead Cells was praised for its combat style and level design, especially the randomized levels and weapons. Through the years many expansions has been released as DLCs and this retail edition includes 5 contents : Rise of the Giant, The Queen and the Sea, The Bad Seed, Fatal Falls and Return to Castlevania. The latter features characters, weapons and enemies from the Castlevania series, Ritcher Belmont as playable character and a secret level inspired to Symphony of the Night.
The retail version of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania Edition comes with 2 illustration cards while the Limited Edition will include :
– a 24 pages Artbook
– the original soundtrack on 2 CDs (28 songs in total)
– a rubber key-holder
– a pin badge
– a set of 3D postcards
– a set of postcards
The game will be released on 14 September for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and will support Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Russian languages.
