Contra Operation Galuga is a remake of the original Contra arcade game that was announced by Konami in September.
The game keeps the original gameplay, a side scrolling action game, where the player (or the players) has to set free the Galuga Island from a group of terrorists called Red Falcon.
The new trailer shows all the characters available and from the first announcement the total has raised to six :
– Bill Rizer, leader of the Contra unit who excels in strength, agility and mental fortitude
– Lance Bean, a guerrilla fighter expert in machinery recruited in the Earth Marine Corps by Bill Rizer
– Ariana, a skilled warrior from Galuga Island seeking revenge after the Red Falcon destroyed her village
– Lucia, deputy commander in the Earth Marine Corps, proficient in combat missions and covert intelligence
– Lt. Stanley Ironside, a veteran who wears a powered exosuit to supplement his formidable combat skills
– Probotector, an autonomous training robot used by Contra units
Besides the Story Mode and Arcade Mode the game will include a Challenge Mode featuring 30 different missions from speedrunning through stages to fighting with limited ammo or surviving enemy hordes.
To help the players, a Perk Shop will allow characters to enhance their capabilities and abilities by using in-game credits and up to two Perks can be equipped per player.
Contra Operation Galuga is planned to be released in early 2024 for Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
