Last week publisher Edia opened a crowdfunding campaign on Makuake regarding a collection of Choaniki for Switch.
Choaniki is a horizontal shoot’em up series that debuted at the beginning of the 90’s on PC Engine while sequels and spin-offs were released on Super Famicom, PlayStation, Saturn, PlayStation 2 with the last official chapter released in 2008 on PlayStation Portable.
The series started with two protagonists, Idaten and Benten, that have to save the world from an emperor who achieved 10 consecutive victories in the Great Galaxy Bodybuilding and wants to establish order in the galaxy to replenish his supply of proteins.
After the first title the main characters became Adon and Samson, two musclebound men that previously assisted Idaten and Benten as support.
The crowdfunding campaign started on 19 July and the target was 5 million yen (almost 30.000 euros) and after only 4 days the project was entirely funded, actually is aiming to 6 million yen but it could even reach higher numbers considering it will be closed on 18 August.
The project aims to make a collection including Choaniki (1992) and Ai Choaniki (1995), both released on PC Engine, but only in digital form and only for Switch.
It’s not clear if considering the project is still 3 weeks from the end (tiers are from 3.000 yen (around 17 euros) for a PC wallpaper and the name written in the official site page up to 150.000 yen (almost 900 euros) for a huge set of bonuses) other tiers will be added, especially a package release.
