SNK has announced that “the pinnacle of 2D sprite-based fighting” game is coming back.
The King of Fighters XIII was originally released for arcades in 2010 and then ported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 the following year.
Featuring 33 characters divided into 11 different teams, KOF XIII was praised for the gameplay and especially for the graphics, for the last time in the series 2D sprites were used and along with the sprite animations it’s considered one of the best looking fighting games ever made.
13 years later KOF XIII comes back, this time for PlayStation 4 and Switch, featuring a rollback netcode for online multiplayer matches.
The worldwide release date is set for 16 November but unlike the West, The King of Fighters XIII Global Match (this is the complete title) will be released in physical form in Japan, but like the West the art book and the soundtrack will be included in digital form through a download code.
