Famitsu has released its videogame sales chart for the week from 20 November to 26 November 2023.
This week the podium didn’t see many changes, Momotaro Dentetsu World: Chikyuu wa Kibou de Mawatteru! (SWI) keeps the top spot with 98,311 units sold while Super Mario Bros. Wonder (SWI) is the runner up with 62,896 units sold and Super Mario RPG (SWI) went down to the 3rd place with 54,321 units sold.
It was a quiet week after many games have been released in the previous 14 days, the only new entry is Stray (PS5) with 2,958 units sold at #24 while many Switch evergreen titles re-appeared into the chart : Super Mario Party at #21 with 3,185 units sold, Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival at #26 with 2,819 units sold, Mario Party Superstars at #28 with 2,688 units sold, Ring Fit Adventure at #29 with 2,660 units sold while the chart is closed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + Booster Course Pass with 2,522 units sold.
Sales have been solid despite the lack of new releases, the top 10 titles have sold in total 272,893 units which is the best result in the last 5 weeks except for the previous week when Momotaru Dentetsu World and Super Mario RPG debuted with more than 300,000 units each other; the end of the year is coming and sales are rising as usual, almost all Switch titles in the chart increased their sales compared to the previous week and the next one will see the last big release of the year with Dragon Quest Monsters 3 (SWI).
Hardware side, sales have been strong for the major systems, PlayStation 5 still holds the top spot thanks to the new model released in November with 49,833 units sold, a little less than the previous week while Switch OLED saw a little increase with 49,380 units sold; the situation changed regarding the “Lite” models with Switch Lite that passed PlayStation 5 Digital (13,364 units vs. 9,402 units sold) and also in the bottom PlayStation 4 had a spike with 2,080 units sold (compared to 646 from the previous week) that overpassed Xbox Series S with 1,834 units sold.
